Tapping 101

Tapping, also known as Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT),is one of my favorite healing modalities. It is a combination of Acupressure and modern Psychology.  I really love this combination, coz you see, I’m an acupuncturist, and I also hold a Masters in Spiritual Psychology…so it’s only natural that I love and recognize the amazing benefits of this technique!  

​It’s called Tapping because literally, you are going to be tapping on some acupuncture points on the face and upper chest as you say out loud the things that are bothering you…your upsets, your stresses, your negative thoughts and beliefs, phobias, fears and others. 

This is the technique I used that allowed me to release my 14 year-long severe cat allergy and my fear of water.  

​At age 37, I finally learned how to swim, and I can play with cats again!!!  ​
​TAPPING, or EFT, is a revolutionary way of self-healing that allows you to safely:
  • navigate your emotions
  • rewire your brain (chemically and neurologically)
  • release the pain and stress in the body-mind
  • rewrite your belief systems (hidden old vows, subconscious programming, generational limiting beliefs)
  • release old emotional traumas and self-sabotage that may be blocking you from living your life to the fullest (whether it’s about money, relationship, health, weight and personal fulfillment).

​BENEFITS OF TAPPING:
  • Tapping creates a chemical and electrical interruption and inhibition of stress patterns and negative emotions
  • Calms the nervous system,  specifically the Amygdala
  • Effectively switches off the "FIGHT-FLIGHT-FREEZE RESPONSE" (aka stress response)
  • Has been shown to decrease Cortisol levels  by 24%
  • As the negative emotions and patterns are released and neutralized, the brain can now entertain new ideas and positive emotions (creativity, ease of pain,  happiness, love, joy, etc).
  • Gives you freedom and self-permission to create and attract the life you really want!  (Not the life that other people/society are telling you to have.  This is ALL ABOUT BEING TRUE TO YOURSELF! )

​​THE TAPPING POINTS:

8 EASY STEPS TO TAP:  ​
​
1. Pick an issue.  Fear, addiction, craving, pain, sadness, anger, etc….
2. Measure the Intensity of your feelings.  10/10 -- worst feeling; 0/10 – no problem at all
3. Tap KC (karate chop) point as you state your “Even Though Statements” out loud 3x. “Even though I (feel all this sadness) , and part of me can’t let it go, I deeply and completely love and accept myself anyway”
4. Tap on the Face and Torso points as you focus on your "Negative Upsets Statements".  “This sadness…”; “All this sadness…”; “Everything that I lost…”  (starting tapping at eyebrow point, ending at top of the head...tap one point per sentence)
5. Breathe and re-measure the intensity of how you feel.  Did the intensity go up or down? If still above 5/10, repeat negative round.
6. Round 2:   Tapping on KC point  (transitioning negative emotions to positive). “Even though I STILL (feel sad and depressed) , I deeply and completely love and accept myself anyway” (say 3x)
7. Round 2:  Tapping Face and Torso Points focusing on Positive Empowering Choices.  “I’m open to healing…”; “I choose to feel safe…”, “Letting go…”; “I honor all my feelings and who I am…”
8. Breathe and measure intensity. Keep tapping until emotion is down to 2/10 or zero.

SHIFTING FEELINGS OF UNHEALTHY SLUGGISH TO VITALITY:

TAPPING ON KARATE CHOP POINT:
  • ›Even though I feel unhealthy, ›I choose to accept where I am right now
  • ›Even though I feel sluggish in my body, ›I choose to honor that feeling right now
  • Even though I feel unhealthy, ›I can decide to raise my vibration of health and vitality right now

TAPPING ON FACE AND TORSO POINTS:
  • ›EB:  I feel unhealthy
  • SE:  I feel sluggish
  • UE:›  I feel unhealthy in my body
  • UN:  ›I’m just going to honor that feeling right now
  • UM: Even though I feel yucky and sluggish inside
  • UC:  I decided to just accept and love who I am right now,
  • UA:  No matter how I’m feeling
  • TH:  ›I wonder how I can shift my vibration?

  • ›EB:  Maybe I need to sleep and rest more
  • SE:  ›Maybe I need to eat more veggies and drink more water
  • UE:›  Maybe I can cut down on the alcohol
  • UN:  Maybe I need to worry less and laugh a little more
  • UM:  Maybe I can stress a little less and have fun a little more
  • UC: › I don’t really want to exercise,
  • UA:  But maybe I can dance around in the house,
  • TH:  ››To move this yuckiness out

  • EB:  I really want to feel good in my body
  • SE:  I want to shift my vibration, even just a little bit today
  • UE:›  I decided I’m going to shift my vibration and my vitality
  • UN:  Even just a little bit today
  • UM: Because I deserve to feel good
  • UC: › I’m deciding to feel good in my body right now
  • UA:  Feeling the lightness in my body right now
  • TH:  ›Choosing to let go of the sluggishness

  • EB:  Choosing to feel good in my body now
  • SE:  Choosing to feel more vital and energized
  • UE:›  Feeling energized now
  • UN:  Feeling my vibrations increase
  • UM: Breathing in the positive energy
  • UC:  ›I’m loving this feeling of vitality!
  • UA:  ›I’m loving this feeling of higher vibration in my body!
  • TH:  ›I love my body.
And Breathe.....!    Did you feel the shift?  It feels good, doesn't it?
